If I ever get something wrong, say something incorrect or hurtful, please let me know. I'm likely ignorant of the ramifications of my words, and parroting a phrase that seems innocent -- I can't grow if I'm not told what I've done wrong! And please, PLEASE, be obvious -- Despite my best efforts, I often miss subtext/subtlety. So yeah.
Help me grow as a person please :) I want to try and make the world a better place, and I can't do that if I'm doing something bad unintentionally!

I'm self-taught, learning everything I know while on the go. If I get something wrong, please let me know! I can't grow my knowledge base if I'm not made aware.
I got introduced to Linux in high school when a shop teacher handed me a CD-R with the letters "K N O P P I X $CITYNAME LUG" scrawled on it, and was told he thought I'd make better use of it than he could. I'm very glad he did!

A little about me: I'm an aspie geek who lucked out, finding a career in the field of my dreams -- working with computers -- just after high school when I landed a position as a code monkey at a rural web host.
After accidentally finding a fix for an incredibly slow in-house built applicatiobn by the codebase to my underpowered laptop, I worked with them for a decade. Now I'm working for an Aussie company from home!
So, hello, welcome to the show! i'm clarjon1, I'm a geek from canuckistan. Just setup this masto instance, so I should get my welcome post done, eh?
I like linux, I like gaming, I like helping people, and I enjoy being a smartarse. I'll probably post memes and jokes here.
Learning this platform as I go along, so bear with me as things look a little scraggly!
tfw you fix something without fully understanding the why what you did worked.
It still makes me nervous that the majority of things that I fix, are fixed based on instinct, not knowledge. Or even coincidence. I couldn't tell you the why it's now working, I just tried the first thing that came to mind, and voila, it's now working.
Like the time I fixed someone's computer by touching the motherboard and got a shock from it, and then it came to life and was fine for a few years.
Or the time me holding someone's iphone would stop it from bootlooping.
Or the time when a client called me and their broken phone started booting without anyone talking to it after I had gotten it working earlier in person.
Or the multiple times my mum has been trying to do something, but her computer would bluescreen, and I would sit down and do the same thing ( or walk her through it over the phone or via teamviewer ) and it would work just fine for me.
Or the countless times I've told a machine to start working or I'd take it to bits, and it'd start behaving...
@izaliamae I've snuck myself onto your relay! Mwahaha!
not sure why everyone is still so excited about endgame when it's literally been on youtube in its entirety for a while??? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfnCAmr569k
